La Trobe Ranked in Top 100
Universities in the World!
We are pleased to announce
that La Trobe University is
now ranked in the top 100 universities in the
world, according
to the latest study
published by the
Times Higher Education
Supplement.
La Trobe University’s strong
performance reflects La
Trobe’s growing reputation
as a leading teaching and
research university, both in
Australia and
internationally.
In addition to an excellent
overall ranking in this
study, La Trobe won a place
in the top 25 international
universities for the Arts
and Humanities.
La Trobe University Arts and
Humanities was ranked equal
3rd in Australia (with
Monash University).
Vice-Chancellor, Professor
Michael Osborne, said:
‘Naturally, I am delighted
that the high international
standing of the University
has been recognised in this
independent review … The
excellent rankings for Arts
and Humanities and for
Social Sciences are
particularly striking,
reflecting the enormous
depth of talent in these
fields in the University….’
The Dean of the Faculty of
Humanities and Social
Sciences at La Trobe,
Professor Roger Wales, has
stated:
‘This is extremely
encouraging recognition of
the outstanding range of
scholars and students in
this Faculty. It is
particularly encouraging to
see us so highly ranked in
international comparisons,
and bracketed with
colleagues at Melbourne, ANU
and Monash as among the best
in the world.’
Other La Trobe disciplinary
areas which were highly
ranked world-wide included
Social Sciences and
Biomedicine.
Australian universities, in
general, performed
particularly well in this
study, reflecting a clear
perception of Australia as a
quality provider of
education. La Trobe
University is pleased to

in this recognition of
Australian academic
excellence.
